This is our last week before the Aspire Testing begins. We have Reading on 4/12, Math on 4/13, and Science on 4/19. Please make sure students have a good night's rest, are on time, and have breakfast at home or at school. Good luck, kiddos!
There will be no regular Wonders work in Spelling, Grammar, or Reading this wee. Some of the Aspire practice will be graded, however.
3 Week 6 begins on 2/29. It is a review opportunity, as well as our beloved Dr. Seuss Week.
Instead of using our usual textbook, students will share read the realistic fiction novel, Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This incredible piece of work is worth asking your child about! There will be no assessments for reading or spelling this week.
Each week students receive a "Word Workout" sheet in homeroom with the vocabulary for that particular story, as well as that week's Spelling list and assignments to be completed daily. In class, we'll get the definitions to study, and we'll work on the focus skills daily.
The focus skills are Greek & Latin suffixes, theme, and vocabulary.
Vocabulary is the one skill that can be owned by the student. We began the week's study by copying the definitions and placing them in the LA/Reading tabbed section of the binder.
This week's words are dilemma, persistent, vastness, feebly, recoil, roused, summon, and skewed.
There is excellent help available through the Wonders material found online.

Check those planners daily, if possible! We are all working toward the increased demands of CCRS!
